The plunge pool is a great way to cool off after the sauna session. The stay in the plunge pool should not be longer than 10 to 20 seconds, since the cold water otherwise drains too much heat from the body.

PERFECT COOLING: THE PLUNGE POOL

Through heat and cold stimulation, the blood circulation in the entire body is stimulated and improved. When sauna bathing, the skin and the blood vessels react. The vessels dilate and the blood circulation increases. In the cooling phase, the blood vessels constrict by the targeted use of cold water, perfect here a short dip. Cold stimulus acts like a strong alarm in the body and triggers counter reactions – that is part of the reaction training, old-fashioned as “hardening” called: Was the cold bath a strong stimulus, now follows a significant relaxation. What happens when skydiving or kite flying on a large scale, namely a sudden release of stress hormones, happens when cooling down on a small scale, but also has a euphoric, mood-enhancing effect. The cold causes the heat-dilated blood vessels to contract rapidly. This leaves more heat inside the body. To open the blood vessels again and to radiate more heat, a warm, only ankle-high foot bath is suitable. The cooling phase should be ended with a strong cold. A short dip in the plunge pool is perfect for this. The strong stimulus heat – cooling is followed by an equally strong relaxation, which is deepened by the repetition of several baths.

The plunge pool is a great way to cool off after the sauna session. The stay in the plunge pool should not be longer than 10 to 20 seconds, since the cold water otherwise drains too much heat from the body. If you want to immerse yourself in the dip tank, you should first rinse off the sweat for hygienic reasons. After cooling, the clear relaxation follows. When the blood vessels in the skin and subcutis contract strongly, the blood shifts to the core of the body, so that the internal organs such as the kidney are now increasingly supplied with blood. By the way, “dive” also means to dive with your head. In the plunge pool, this shift of the blood into the body can be particularly pronounced. Therefore, people with high blood pressure and pregnant women should not take an immersion bath because they do not want the sudden increase in blood pressure. Circulatory cold barking away from the heart towards the middle of the body is possible.
